Burda Waistcoat – Not quite finished…

July14

It’s been a week since my last post and I have to admit although I liked the idea of making the BurdaStyle magazine 07/10 waistcoat a week or so ago, I’m not really ‘feeling’ it anymore. I will however continue to finish it as I really don’t like unfinished projects. I may keep it……. I may give it away……. only time will tell.

A Larger Persons Waistcoat – preparation

July8

Hi again everyone, sorry for the lack of posts. I have been rather busy recently but I will let you know more about that in a month or so.

Does anyone in the UK have a real difficulty tracking down BurdaStyle magazine because I know I do!!! Finally found it on the bottom most rack, right at the very back in my city’s WHSmith. Had to kneel on the floor to reach it and everything!! :? wasn’t very happy, but then again I suppose if it wasn’t me in that position it would be someone else hunting for another random magazine.

The Waistcoat Design

June28

Last week while I was shopping at the supermarket I picked up a 9-12month baby boys t-shirt for £1. I figured that after having searched high and low for patterns that would be suitable for this project, and having found none, it was about time I bought some items of clothing for 9-12 month old babies and cut the clothes up to make my own patterns.

I was bored last night and didn’t really fancy starting a big project when my eyes flicked to the little t-shirt I’d had hanging by my desk for the last week. So out came the scissors! I found a couple of pictures of waistcoats on the internet and then decided to try and copy the shape.

Challenge – Christening Outfit

June28

A couple of weeks ago, my sister asked me if I would like to make my nephew’s christening outfit and of course I jumped at the chance!! My sister and I spent ages on the phone talking about whether she wanted a christening dress (our mum would have gone spare if she had asked me to make a new one as our family one is a bit of an antique) or something else. In the end it was decided that she wants me to make a little suit similar to the one in the picture below. It’s soo cute!!!!

Procrastination = New blogs to follow

June23

I’m bored at work and thought I’d go hunting for new and exciting blogs or sites to follow. I always seem to manage this by seeing something someone has made on burdastyle, viewing their blog and exploring from there.

So today, thanks to Minnie Burton’s Blog I’ve found another crafty website or two with loads of clothing ideas. Really cheap and easy ones at that.

So if you have a few minutes spare, or like me are just procrastinating, take a look at What The Craft and Cut Out and Keep.

Have fun!!!

Hi! I’m a PhD student studying in North East England BUT I’m also a Secret Sewer!!

I recently started sewing as I wanted to find a hobby that would take me as far away from my research as possible and I succeeded! I want to be able to make myself clothes that no-one else will have in my city and then maybe at a later date, with a lot of practice, I can start making duplicates to sell to my hopefully avid readers.
